Mooresville, NC, February 8, 2012:  Local freight provider Medallion Transport & Logistics, LLC moved to a new facility at 307 Oates Road and added 15 additional jobs.  The new facility gives Medallion the opportunity to create new jobs and future internships as the business develops.

Medallion was founded by two transport specialists, Gary Weilheimer and Tom Tranovich, to bring over 40 years of experience to the table to develop a new kind of transportation platform.  In January 2009 Weilheimer appointed new executive, Bill Winey, as Chief Operating Officer of Medallion Transport & Logistics, LLC.  Winey brought an additional 33 years of industry experience to Medallion.  Since 2009 Medallion’s platform as a multi-faceted transportation provider has rapidly grown through acquiring other logistic services professionals to complete their senior management team with experienced transportation veteran Richard Panuski.

Medallion Transport currently operates 3 offices, 30 agents, 150 owner-operator drivers, and two active Authorities managing over 500 truck loads a week.  Medallion Transport’s two Authorities with the DOT are Medallion Transport and Ace Heavy Haul.  Ace Heavy Haul provides service to oversize and specialty equipment type loads.

Medallion Transport specializes in multi-faceted transportation services utilizing independent agents, owner-operators and through third-party motor carriers.  Medallion strives to be the finest in the industry by maintaining The Gold Standard in Safety and Service.   Medallion has a stringent qualifying program for their owner-operators and continuing education programs for the drivers to operate under Medallion’s Authority.  Medallion’s safety audits have received a Satisfactory rating from the DOT, and they take pride in their safety and customer satisfaction performance.

Medallion has seen recent freight opportunities relating to the Department of Defense and Hospitality Markets.  They are developing plans to further pursue the opportunities in these markets.

Weilheimer says, “Medallion plans to continuously grow in Mooresville,” and one of the reasons why Medallion chose to locate in Mooresville was the people.   Having the right people with the right skill set is vital to our operations.  “We plan for Mooresville, North Carolina to be the hub of our logistic operations.”

“We are excited to see our existing industries in the Mooresville community thriving and looking forward to the job growth potential Medallion Transport and Logistics presents,” said Jessica Rivers, Existing Industries and Marketing Manager of the Mooresville-South Iredell Economic Development Corporation.
