In North Carolina, a driver was killed when his tractor-trailer hit the guardrail on a bridge on Interstate 85 about 40 miles north of Charlotte.
The Charlotte Observer reports the driver was pulling double trailers and that one of them went over the guard rail and crashed onto a road below. He was ejected from the cab on impact. It was reported that he was not wearing a seat belt.
The carrier told North Carolina news sources that the driver had a good driving record and that the company was looking into the possibility that a front tire may have blown out.
